The work that follows was created in an ex military barracks which at the time functioned as my studio. Exploration of history, architectural plans and conversation with persons within this area allowed flourishing of works, examples below.

Architectural drawing of site by CAWM 2013

' Ma '  still from video, 2013

playing, above still from short animation relating to Scottish military history and drop of applicants into military after disbandment of sottish regiments.

Site building carved from plaster based on drawings.

Walls to entry way had been eroded and gaged, vandalised by then soliders on guard at entry way, creation of square block plaster allowed carving into a raw building material as part of the processes.

'  Sand castle  '  (  modelled site building )  plastic, metal sand 2013
One of locals reminisced about his father being stationed at the site, stating the building would be haunted with memories of those men fraught with concern, yet for them life went on.

Collected stone eroded sand which was then used with the 'sand castle' bucket to recreate lost childhood, and repeat form of building as it in-evidently fell.

There was a soldier, a Scottish soldier Who wandered far away, and soldiered far away There was non bolder, with good broad shoulder He's fought in many a fray, and fought and won. He's seen the glory, and told the story Of battles glorious, and deeds victorious But now he's sighing, his heart is crying To leave these green hills ofTyrol Because these green hills are not highland hills, Or the island hills, they're not my land's hills And fair as these green foreign hills may be They are not the hills of home
'  Musical Brick  ' reformed sand from building, musical box, 2013

Later I reformed the sand stone into a brick form, utilizing knowledge of plans I played on fact studios were once a in barracks music hall and inserted a music box into the brick, allowing via key viewer to hear the song '' oh Scottish solider'. Brick its self allowed a tactile delicate relationship with the viewer as it sang its lullaby. The bricks resonance shape allowed one hand to cover a hole on which the other side an ear would be placed.

Notion of brick as a violent object, via rioting, or as a weapon is displaced allowing two persons standing opposite sides of the single brick wall to share a intimate moment, though their eyes can not meet while they listen due to the bricks design
